Back when the Wii launched, Walmart was prepared for the big storm and knew it would be a big hit. Now with the new Nintendo DSi we see the same phenomenon. Walmart’s chief merchant lets us know that they’ve ordered thousands of Nintendo DSi systems to give everyone the opportunity to get one on launch date.
“Walmart.com has made tens of thousands of Nintendo DSi units available for preorder, giving more customers the chance to enjoy one of the most sought-after handheld consoles in history. Nintendo themselves have said there will be no stock shortages when the DSi is released, but somehow i can’t see that. Nintendo seem to rely on stock shortages creating demand.
